Today, Sauli Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland visited the ECB. He was accompanied by Päivi Luostarinen, Ambassador of Finland to Germany, and by members of his staff.
During his visit, the President and his delegation met Mario Draghi, President of the ECB, Benoît Coeuré, Member of the ECB’s Executive Board, Yves Mersch, Member of the ECB’s Executive Board, and Peter Praet, Member of the ECB’s Executive Board, to discuss matters of mutual interest.
The main topics of discussion were the state of the euro area economy in general and the Finnish economy in particular, as well as the ECB’s preparations for the start of its supervisory role on 4 November 2014.
