The Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) has appointed Mr Frank Smets, currently Director General Research, as new Counsellor to the President and Co-ordinator of the Counsel to the Executive Board. Mr Smets will take up his new function as of 1 December 2013.
Mr Smets has been with the ECB for 15 years and in his current function as Director General Research since 2008.
