ECB Forum on Central Banking – Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions about the ECB Forum on Central Banking.

What will be the format of the 2024 ECB Forum on Central Banking? 

This year’s Forum will be an in-person event held in Sintra, Portugal, from 1 to 3 July 2024.
The entire event will be broadcast live. 

Who can participate?

Participation in the Forum is by invitation only and is limited to central bank officials, academics, senior economists and selected media. Owing to space constraints, the number of person participants is restricted.

Where can I find the programme and further Forum-related information?

The programme is available on the dedicated ECB Forum page. Further information, including details of speakers and participants, will be made available closer to the event. 

Is there a fee to participate?

In line with the ECB’s policy, and in order to cover some of the costs associated with the Forum, there is a participation fee of €1,500. If you have any queries about the fee, please send an email to info@ecbforum.eu.

I am a journalist interested in attending/reporting on the Forum. How can I register?

Owing to space constraints, participation in the Forum is by invitation only. A limited number of journalists are invited to the Forum as participants and other accredited journalists will have the opportunity to follow the Forum at the media centre close to the Forum venue.

Journalists can also tune in to the live webcast of the event.

Can I watch the Forum online?

The Forum will be broadcast live, and the recording of the individual sessions will be made available afte the event on the ECB Forum programme page and the ECB's YouTube channel.

Can I share information about the Forum on my own social media accounts?

All presentations, papers and discussions that are part of the official Forum programme are on the record. Participants and interested parties are encouraged to share information about the Forum on their own social media accounts and promote the ECB’s social media posts about the event using the hashtag #ECBForum.

Will the papers discussed during the Forum be published?

Yes. The papers discussed during the Forum will be published on the ECB Forum programme page. Where possible, the ECB aims to publish the papers online shortly before the event. Otherwise, they will be made available during it.  

I have received an invitation but cannot find my credentials for accessing the registration site. What should I do?

Please register using the email address to which your invitation was sent. If you are unable to register using that email address, please send an email to info@ecbforum.eu.

I am trying to access the online registration form, but it says my credentials are incorrect. What should I do?

Your username should be the email address to which your invitation was sent. If you are still unable to access the form, please send an email to info@ecbforum.eu.

I have received an invitation but I am unable to attend. Can I pass the invitation on to someone else?

We are sorry that you are unable to attend. The Forum has a strict policy on transferring invitations. If you wish to pass your invitation on to someone else, please send an email to info@ecbforum.eu.

I have registered to attend the Forum. How can I book accommodation?

The ECB has negotiated rates with Penha Longa Resort (the Forum venue). You can book rooms at the hotel using the booking links you are given when you register. Please contact the hotel directly if you need assistance in arranging accommodation.

Will participants be offered transportation from Lisbon airport to the venue?

By road, Lisbon international airport (Portela) is conveniently located about 15 minutes from Lisbon city centre and 30-45 minutes from the Forum venue.

On 1, 3 and 4 July a shuttle bus will operate between the airport and the venue. Information on the schedule is provided in the registration form. 

If you wish to take a taxi, there is an official taxi rank outside the arrivals hall at Lisbon airport. The fare from the airport to the Penha Longa hotel is around €50.

If you wish to rent a car, please contact one of the car rental companies at the airport.
